Two Injured In A Structure Fire Near Prescott

Two people were hurt in a structure fire early Friday morning near Prescott. Officials say crews were called to a cabin in Camp Pinerock on Prescott’s southern border at around 12:45 a.m. When they arrived they reported around a one-thousand square foot home was engulfed in flames. Flame heights were reportedly 150 feet high with trees burning near four houses. Fire crews went into preventative measures to keep the fire contained to the area and save the other houses. The homes were saved with only minor damage. A man and woman were in the home that caught fire. As the woman was trying to get out of the home through a window, the fire underwent a “flashover,” when all of the contents inside ignited. Both people were taken to emergency personnel which then transported them to Yavapai Regional Medical Center in Prescott. They were then both airlifted to a Phoenix area hospital for further treatment. Fire officials say both are lucky to be alive. The fire at the house was knocked down in about an hour. The estimated loss from the fire is $250-thousand dollars. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
