Two men were arrested recently after they were found with 37 pounds of marijuana in their vehicle. Yavapai County Sheriff’s deputies stopped a 2013 Chevy Traverse with Oklahoma plates on Interstate-40 in Ash Fork last Wednesday at around 10 p.m. for a routine traffic stop. During a conversation with the driver, the deputy smelled the odor of marijuana coming from inside. Officials say 30-year-old Javier Castillo-Arias and his cousin, 28-year-old Marcos Castillo were heading to Oklahoma. In a separate interview, Marcos told the deputy different travel plans and said Javier was his brother. A search of the vehicle found two bags of pot totaling 37 pounds in the rear cargo area and a small amount of marijuana in the center console. The two were booked on drug charges and both remain in the Camp Verde Detention Center on $60-thousand dollars bond each.
