Two people were arrested Sunday after officers found numerous fentanyl pills in their vehicle. Cottonwood Police conducted a traffic stop Saturday afternoon at around 5:45 p.m. Cottonwood’s police dog “Kratos” was called in to search the 2005 Chevrolet Avalanche and alerted officers to a spot in the vehicle. Officers then located a container under the passenger seat. Inside the container were 48 fentanyl pills along with items consistent with ingesting the pills, including burnt aluminum foil and an empty pen case and a straw cut into short tubes. The couple’s two-year-old boy was in the vehicle at the time as well. Arrested were 25-year-old Raymond Newhall of Clarkdale who was the passenger and 25-year-old Dallas Cordova of Sedona, who was the driver. Newhall was booked on drug charges. Cordova was arrested and charged with driving on a suspended license and possession of drug paraphernalia. The boy was turned over to family and the Department of Child Safety was contacted.
