The lightning-caused Tiger Fire has grown to over 16-thousand acres, with still 29-percent containment. Crown King is closed with residents only allowed to go in and out. The Yavapai County Sheriff’s Office closed Crown King Road between Crown King and Cleator Wednesday. Access to Crown King remains via Goodwin Road to Senator Highway. County Road 177 is also closed, as well as national forest lands generally south of County Road 177 from Mayer, west to Palace Station, except for Crown King residents with identification. Residents of Horsethief Basin were put into “Go” status Sunday morning, while Lorena Gultch Cabins and Crown King are in “Set” and Cleator is in “Ready.”
