Today marks nine years since 19 members of the Granite Mountain Hotshots were killed battling the Yarnell Hill Fire. Several events are planned to mark the occasion. Tonight, the Central Arizona Firefighters Pipes And Drums will play at Matt’s Saloon at 6:30 and Founding Fathers at 7:30 in honor of the fallen 19 hotshots. The Town of Yarnell will pay tribute to the fallen firefighters at Yarnell Memorial Park at the corner of Shrine Road and Highway 89. The event will feature local musicians and the ringing of bells and a reading of the names of the 19 heroes, along with a moment of silence at 4:42 p.m. The event starts at 4 p.m. The bells at the Yavapai County Courthouse in downtown Prescott will be rung 19 times starting at 4:42 p.m. No public comments are planned. Governor Ducey has ordered flags fly at half-staff today to honor the fallen 19 firefighters.
