Three former Lumberjacks highlight the Big Sky Conference’s first-ever Hall of Fame Class. The conference announced the inaugural 14-member class Wednesday morning. In the class for representing NAU is former women’s track and field and cross country runner Angela Chalmers, former Olympian and NAU cross country athlete Lopez Lomong and former cross country and track and field coach Ron Mann. Chalmers was at NAU from 1982 until 1987. She won a bronze medal for Canada in the 1988 and 1992 Olympics. Chalmers holds three outdoor records at NAU in the 800, 15-hundred and three-thousand meters. Lomong won 2007 national championships in the three-thousand meters in indoor and 15-hundred meters in outdoor track. He won numerous conference titles and still holds two conference records. Mann was the legendary cross country and track and field coach at NAU from 1980 through 2004. He won 56 conference Coach of the Year awards and 58 Big Sky team titles. The award ceremony will take place on Saturday, March 14th in Boise, Idaho.
