Flagstaff’s mayoral candidates got together for a forum at Coconino Community College Wednesday night. The event lasted about an hour between Mayor Paul Deasy, former Vice Mayor Becky Daggett and Daniel Williamson. The forum, which was conducted in front of a nearly full gathering, was conducted by Friends of Flagstaff’s Future and focused on critical topics in the community, such as housing, climate neutrality, the future of the city and more. Mayor Deasy spoke of what the city has accomplished in the year-and-a-half of his first term. From bringing in outside money to help with flood mitigation, to the creation of the CARES team, to the climate plan. Daggett spoke of her experience on projects that exist today and her willingness to improve communication with residents and with staff. Williamson told the gathering that he can provide steady leadership and broker partnerships that can help Flagstaff into the future. Three candidates will be drawn down to two in the primary election August 2nd.
