Rescue crews were busy early Friday near Camp Verde. The Yavapai County Sheriff’s Department received a call at around 4:30 a.m. from a person saying floodwaters were surrounding his truck and fifth-wheel toy hauler just off Highway 260 outside of Camp Verde. Personnel from the Copper Canyon Fire and Medical District were called to the scene, along with sheriff’s deputies. When crews arrived, water had surrounded the truck and trailer with water around four-to-five feet deep. Three adults were trapped in the trailer after setting up camp the night before to prepare for an elk hunt. The three were rescued and taken to Camp Verde by deputies. Contact was made with other campers in the area to ensure no other rescues would be needed. No one was injured in the incident.
