A new wildfire has started on the Navajo Nation. It’s called the Wood Springs 2 Fire and it’s burning 13 miles northeast of Ganado. The wildfire has burned over 300 acres and growing due to high winds. BLM fire officials say the fire started Saturday from a lightning strike about three miles east of Wood Springs. The fire was knocked down, but high winds fanned the fire Sunday and it started to grow. Numerous aircraft were sent to battle the fire and they are using the Winslow Airport as a refueling base. Navajo Route 7 from Sawmill to Chinle and Wood Springs, and Navajo Route 26 between Nazlini and Sawmill is closed to evacuate residents in the area. Fire officials have called in a Type-2 team to the area to manage the fire. A Red Flag Warning is in effect until Monday night for most of Northern Arizona.
