The Tunnel Fire Swept Through Sunset Crater Volcano National Monument Overnight Tuesday

Most of Sunset Crater Volcano National Monument has fallen victim to the Tunnel Fire. Officials say all staff members were able to quickly evacuate, and they were able to grab culturally important items from the visitor center. The visitor center remains unharmed currently, however the fire is still in close proximity. The park is closed indefinitely and there is no word on on when it may reopen.
