The Northern Arizona Suns Have Been Sold To The Detroit Pistons

The Northern Arizona Suns are no more. The Phoenix Suns sold the G-League franchise to the Detroit Pistons Wednesday. The Pistons will move the franchise to Wayne State University. The team will play in Phoenix next season while the new arena is being built at the university. The Suns say they decided to sell after an “extensive internal review determined that ownership and management of the Northern Arizona Suns doesn’t align with the Phoenix Suns’ strategic plan for player development” going forward. The Suns will develop their young players by daily practices with the NBA team. They do plan on scouting the G League to add players to the roster. The Suns decided to pull the Northern Arizona Suns out of Prescott Valley earlier this month. The team started play at the Findlay Toyota Center back in 2016.
