The Navajo Nation Calls For Another 57-Hour Curfew For This Weekend

The Navajo Nation will undergo another 57-hour weekend curfew this weekend in response to the COVID-19 pandemic. The curfews will begin at 8 p.m. Friday night and last until Monday morning at 5 a.m. Health officials say the intent and purpose of the curfews are to further restrict movement of people on the Navajo Nation during the time. Officials say failure to comply with the order could result in a citation that carries a fine. The order states all people shall remain at home during this time, except in the event of an emergency. The order also does not apply to essential employees reporting to and from work. Officials tell members to get supplies for the weekend ahead of time, including feed for livestock as stores will not be open during the curfew.
