This year’s Monsoon was forecast to have an equal percentage of above average, normal or below average rainfall. It’s easy to see that so far this year’s Monsoon is checking in as above average after the first month. The National Weather Service has released some Monsoon rainfall totals since June 15th, which is the start of the Monsoon season. At the Flagstaff Airport, 2.90 inches of rain has fallen, which is about a half-inch above normal. Prescott, at the Sundog Water Plant, has received just over four-and-a-half inches of rain so far, which is 2.12 inches above normal. However, the Prescott Airport has only received just shy of an inch-and-a-half of rain, which right now is more than three-tenths of an inch below normal. Places in Northern Arizona well above normal currently are Bellemont, Heber, the Blue Ridge Ranger Station and Walnut Canyon. Places below normal are Payson, Seligman and the Bright Angel Ranger Station. The Monsoon season runs through September 30th.
