The “Marshall Fire” has burned 24 acres and is 80-percent contained. The fire started late Monday morning about 12 miles east of Show Low, burning through pine and juniper. Winds in the area at the time were 20-to-25 miles an hour with gusts over 30 miles-and-hour away from Show Low and Pinetop-Lakeside. A few residences were put in “SET” evacuation status in the area of Forest Road 283 and County Road 3144 in Vernon, but were put back into READY a few hours later. There’s no known cause of the fire, but it likely was human caused.
