A lightning-caused fire is being used for forest management. The Whiskey Fire is burning around eight miles west of the Turkey Butte Lookout, near the Saber Fire and is burning in the footprint of the Slide Fire. The fire has burned 105 acres and started on back on Labor Day. The fire is being used to slowly consume forest debris, to clear out the forest floor fuels, which will reduce the risk of a more severe high-intensity wildfire later. Smoke from the fire could drift into the Village of Oak Creek, Sedona and Oak Creek Canyon.
