The John Wayne Cancer Foundation’s Charity Run is coming to Flagstaff, this Saturday starting at Thorpe Park. The challenging half-marathon will begin at Thorpe Park and will run along Mars Hill to Observatory Mesa, reaching A-1 Mountain Road and finishing just north of Interstate-40. The trail features single-track trails and a gain of elevation of around 900-feet along the just over 13-mile run. All fundraising efforts support JWCF’s initiatives, including pioneering cancer research programs and Block the Blaze, which is a premier program that educates youth about sun safety and skin cancer prevention. To register to walk or run, or both, log onto JohnWayne.org. The cost is $125 to enter, or if you raise a minimum of $500, your entrance fee will be waived. When you register, enter the promo code “GRIT15” when you sign up and you will receive 15-percent off your entry fee. The John Wayne Cancer Foundation’s mission is to bring courage, strength and grit to the fight against cancer. JWCF funds novel and innovative programs that improve cancer patients’ outcomes and save lives through research, education, awareness and support.
