The Flagstaff Fire Department will conduct several prescribed burns over the next two to three weeks. Burns are planned for 110 acres at Fort Tuthill County Park, around 100 acres at Rogers Lake Natural Area about 20 miles southwest of Flagstaff, about 25 acres next to the Flagstaff Airport and around 250 acres two miles west of Flagstaff on Observatory Mesa. Burns could begin on Monday. During the Fort Tuthill burn, the archery range will be closed along with a portion of Soldier and Bridge trails. Smoke from the burns could affect Flagstaff and surrounding areas on days of the burns. Prescribed burns are always dependent upon weather conditions and may be cancelled if conditions prove unsuitable.
