The Flagstaff City Council discussed a number of issues related to community development and neighborhood planning on Tuesday. High occupancy housing was a top priority, and the Council discussed a 45-foot height limit and historic preservation concerns that would factor into such projects. Top priorities also included dark sky concerns for outdoor lighting, and new ways to implement the voter approved Smart and Safe Act, which legalized the sale of recreational marijuana. The Council’s Engineering and Capital Improvement Division gave a progress update on the Rio De Flag Project, for diverting potential flood waters, along with other recent developments including a new municipal court house on Cherry Avenue, and the recent teardown of the ADOT buildings on Milton Road.
