The Arizona Independent Redistricting Commission will hold its first public hearing Thursday in Coconino County. The commission will meet at the High Country Conference Center in Flagstaff at 5 p.m. Two satellite centers will be set up in Page and Tuba City. People who want to see the hearing in Page can go to Page City Hall and to the Tuba City Chapter House. Those attending at the satellite centers will get a chance to speak at the event. States must redraw their congressional and legislative maps every ten years. The Commission was established by voters by the passage of Proposition 106 in 2000. The maps drawn by the commission will set the course for the next ten years of Arizona’s elections. If you can’t make the meeting, you can watch the hearing online.
