Coconino County Supervisor Art Babbott has qualified as an independent for the 2020 election for State Legislative District 6. Babbott needed more than three times the number of signatures than Democrats or Republicans to get on the ballot. He joins incumbent Republican Representative Walt Blackman, Flagstaff Mayor Coral Evans, who is the lone Democrat in the race, and former Republican state representative Brenda Barton. Blackman and Barton will face off in the August primary on the Republican side. Current State Representative Bob Thorpe is termed out after this term and is running for a seat on the Coconino County Board of Supervisors in District Four. The state House currently sits at 31 Republican and 29 Democratic members. The primary election is set for August 4th.
