There is one less candidate on the Republican side in the race for the state House in Legislative District One. Republican Steve Gesell announced this morning he is withdrawing from the race. Gesell’s officials say the reason for him dropping out is the shift in “family dynamics would make spending legislative sessions in Phoenix untenable for the near future.” His campaign intends of returning all donations to those that supported his campaign over the next several months. Gesell’s exit leaves incumbents Judy Burges and Quang Nguyen, Selina Bliss and Ryan Cadigan on the Republican side and Cathy Ransom and Neil Sinclair on the Democratic side, left in the race. The new district one covers Yavapai County. The primary is set for August 2nd.
