State Education Department Releases Recommendations For Schools To Reopen

The Arizona Department of Education released its recommendations Monday to help guide school districts and charter schools go through a reopening plan for the new school year. The “Roadmap for Reopening Schools” covers several topics and helps districts and charters prepare for four different scenarios. Scenario One is all students back to classrooms as normal. Scenario Two, some students in physical buildings and some students distance learning. Scenario Three, all students distance learning to start the year, with the option of returning to buildings when appropriate, and four which is distance learning for the school year based on emergency closures. Much of the plan refers to CDC guidelines, which includes daily health checks, physical barriers in classrooms and staggered pickup and drop off times. Area school districts are working on plans on reopening and will release information in the near future.
