The Arizona Department of Forestry will conduct two prescribed burns starting in two weeks. The first burn will take place the week of October 14th and will consist of about 475 acres of slash piles near Happy Jack, two miles north of Clint’s Well. On October 14th, work will begin on the Raymond Wildlife Area Prescribed Fire near Winslow. The project is a partnership between the forestry department and Arizona Game and Fish. The 14,655 acre burn will take place over a course of a few years, in which around 500 acres is set to be completed by the end of the year. All prescribed fires are weather dependent.
