Stage One Fire Restrictions Remain In Effect As Fire Danger Decreases In The Coconino National Forest

The Coconino National Forest has changed the fire danger from “very high” down to just “high.” The move does not mean that Stage One fire restrictions have been lifted, as they are still in effect. Stage One restrictions means there are no open fires that are allowed including, campfires. However, propane grills and fire pits that have an on and off switch are allowed. With a three-day weekend coming up, the area forests will be full of campers. Make sure if you see smoke in the forest, report it immediately by calling 911. Also, if you plan to camp in the area, make sure to clean up your campsite and haul out any trash you may have. Don’t leave it behind for wildlife or for forest service employees and volunteers to clean up.
