The Department of Forestry and Fire Management has issued the first fire restrictions of the season. Friday morning at 8 a.m., Stage One fire restrictions will be in place on all state-owned and managed lands in Navajo and Apache counties. Stage One restrictions means no building, maintaining, attending, or using of fire, campfire, charcoal, coal or wood stoves, with the exception in a developed campsite or picnic area. Also no fireworks, use of an open flame or smoking, unless it’s within an enclosed vehicle or building. Restrictions also apply in the two counties at all Game and Fish Wildlife areas, any state parks in the counties and all highways. Fire officials say conditions in the White Mountains warrant the implementation of the restrictions.
