Small Lightning-Caused Wildfire Sparked Wednesday Near The Museum Fire Scar

During yesterday’s storm a lightning strike started the Imperial Fire on the western side of Mount Elden near the Museum Fire scar. Coconino National Forest officials say the fire was a tenth-of an acre. Fire crews placed a fire line around the fire and confined it overnight. Crews hiked to the scene and the lines held. Fire managers hope to reach containment today, however smoke may be seen from Buffalo Park and to the west. Remember, now that the Monsoon season has returned, the possibility of lightning-caused fires is high. If you see smoke in the forest, call 911 and report it.
