A traffic stop in Chino Valley leads to a drug investigation and arrest of seven people in Yavapai County. On Monday, Chino Valley Police stopped a gold-colored Hyundai sedan for an equipment violation at around 11 p.m. The driver, 34-year-old Katrina Flick from Chino Valley, along with three passengers, 24-year-old Kelsey Prevatt and 29-year-old Jeremiah Marrs, both from Chino Valley and 19-year-old Trey Gist from Paulden, were questioned in the 700 block of Highland Court. During the investigation, Flick attempted to run away and was detained. Flick had two felony warrants in her name and she was arrested. During a search of the car, officers found a bag with drug paraphernalia inside and at least one syringe loaded with heroin. More paraphernalia was found on Prevatt along with more heroin. The four were booked into the Camp Verde Detention Center on drug charges. The investigation then led to the arrest of 34-year-old William Smyer, who sold the drugs to the group. Also arrested was 24-year-old Samantha Sylvester and 29-year-old Cody Wilkins after a search of a Chino Valley home. The search found heroin, pills and other paraphernalia inside the home. The three were also booked on drug charges related to the investigation.
