A man, who was wanted in connection with an armed robbery in Sedona, was killed after a shootout with Oklahoma State Troopers in Oklahoma City Saturday. Authorities say troopers tried to stop a vehicle driven by 32-year-old Charles Carswell on Interstate-40 and Council Road. Carswell fled the scene and began firing at authorities. Moments later, Carswell stopped the vehicle, grabbed a rifle and began shooting at state troopers again. Law enforcement fatally shot Carswell. No law enforcement officials were injured in the exchange. Carswell was wanted in an armed robbery at the Whole Foods in Sedona recently. Sedona Police say he attempted to steal a couple of watermelons when he was approached by a store employee. Carswell showed a gun and told the employee, “do you want to die over a couple of watermelons?” He fled the scene in a 2022 Grand Wagoneer with Ohio registration, and then surfaced in Oklahoma City Saturday.
