It was another day of flooding in Doney Park as a strong thunderstorm dumped rain on the Schultz-Pipeline burn area Friday. The storm formed at around 4:30 p.m. and covered the entire the Schultz Fire and most of the Pipeline Fire burn scars. Rainfall ranged from around a half-inch to an inch-and-a-half. The highest totals came above the Wupatki Trails area, where well over an inch of rain fell in a short amount time. The community flooded again, but it wasn’t as much water as the first time the neighborhood was flooded. The water made it’s way to the mitigation canals down to Timberline. For the second straight day, flood water went into Doney Park off of Government Tank. This time, water stayed off of Highway 89. Half of the rain fell on Weatherford Trial Friday than it did Thursday. A portion of the Museum Fire burn scar saw a good amount of rain, but channels below were able to handle the flow. The National Weather Service says there will be a good chance of another round of showers and thunderstorms Saturday.
