Coconino County Sheriff’s Search and Rescue recovered the body of a man at C.C. Cragin Reservoir after he drowned Sunday. Crews were called to the reservoir at 6:07 p.m. Sunday on a report of a man, 32-year-old Austin Smith of Payson, who was swimming and went under water near the boat ramp and never resurfaced. A search by people at the reservoir, followed by crews was conducted, but Smith wasn’t found. First thing Monday morning, crews went back and used a dive team along with a rescue dog to find the body at around 11:30 a.m. Smith’s body was recovered and he was taken to the Coconino County Medical Examiner’s Office. The investigation into the incident is ongoing.
