Saturday Marks The 20th Anniversary Of 9-11 With Many Remembrances And Ceremonies Planned Around Northern Arizona

Saturday marks the 20th year since the 9-11 terrorist attacks in New York City, Washington, DC and Pennsylvania. Terrorists hijacked four planes, with two going into the twin towers, one into the Pentagon and the other crashing in Pennsylvania. In Flagstaff, the annual Flagstaff 911 Tower Challenge will take place at the Skydome from seven to nine a.m. Anyone interested to participate in the event must sign up online.  Also at 6:50 a.m., there will be a ceremony at Flagstaff City Hall, at the flag pole, to commemorate the time when the first plane hit the World Trade Center.  In Prescott Valley, the Healing Fields is taking place at the Prescott Valley Town Center. Every year, volunteers place over three-thousand flags on the lawn of the center to remember the lives lost on September 11th, 2001. In Williams, the Patriot Day Parade will take place in downtown Williams starting at 11 a.m. In Winslow, it’s the annual Remembrance and Reflection ceremony at 9-11 gardens on Cassandra Lane and Third Street, where a piece of the World Trade Center stands as a memorial. The service starts at 7 p.m. Over three-thousand people died from the attacks on September 11th, 2001.
