Rio De Flag Flood Control Project To Receive $52-Million From The U.S. Army Corps Of Engineers

There is some big news coming out of Washington, DC regarding the Rio de Flag project in Flagstaff. U.S. Army Corps of Engineers has awarded $52-million dollars in its Fiscal Year 2020 work plan to complete construction of the Rio de Flag flood control project. It was last month when Senators Martha McSally and Kyrsten Sinema sent a letter to the group, asking to include funding for the project in the Corps’ work plan to “complete the project and ensure that downtown Flagstaff, Northern Arizona University, BNSF Railroad and the historic southside community are permanently protected from a catastrophic flood.” The Army Corps’ work plan is expected to be released this week.
