A man is in jail after making a bomb threat at the Dollar Store in Rimrock Wednesday. Yavapai County Sheriff’s deputies were called to the store on Beaver Creek Road at 5 a.m. on a report of finding a threating note by a store employee. The note read: “don’t go around the back of the building, there’s a bomb.” The checked the area, but couldn’t find an explosive device. However employees did find a suspicious box later in the morning. The area was cleared for precaution. Employees told deputies about 38-year-old James Nicholson from Rimrock and how he behaved around other store employees. He was found at a nearby post office and taken to the store. Nicholson told deputies he killed a snake earlier and put it in the box he got at the Dollar Store, but denied making the threat. The box contained the snake and an axe, but no bomb. Nicholson was arrested for threatening in reckless disregard to cause public inconvenience, evacuation of a building and the second charge of fake reporting. Both charges are misdemeanors. He remains in custody.
