Retired DPS Director Frank Milstead will begin a consulting job for the Prescott Valley Police Department in September. Colonel Milstead will spend several months with the department. In anticipation of the selection of a new chief of police, Town Manager Gilbert Davidson said he wants to make sure the town sets a level of expectation, and gains an understanding of how officers view and feel about the department. Milstead retired from DPS in April of 2020, after five years of service to DPS and more than three decades of service in Arizona law enforcement. Before his service to DPS, Milstead spent five years in the Mesa Police Department, and 25 years with the Phoenix Police Department. Milstead will spend several months working with the Prescott Valley Police Department, looking at policies, staffing, training, and other general dynamics of the organization.
