The NAU football program has lost one of their brothers. Flagstaff Police say senior offensive lineman Malik Noshi was found dead at his residence at around noon on Sunday in Flagstaff. Authorities say life-saving measures were performed on the 22-year-old, but he was pronounced dead at 12:10 p.m. A friend told police Noshi was fine the night before, but was found not breathing the next day. Noshi was from Las Vegas, Nevada and was a starter on the offensive line for the Lumberjacks in 24 of his 29 career games at NAU. He was named a Big Sky Conference honorable mention last season. NAU Athletics released a statement from Athletic Director Mike Marlow this morning. He says “the thoughts and prayers of the entire NAU Athletics family go out to Malik’s family, friends, teammates and coaches during this time of great sadness.” He mentions coaches and support staff have been reaching out to his teammates to ensure they have the support they need. Police say the cause of death is pending, but no visible evidence of foul play was found. The incident remains under investigation.
