It’s going to be a very hot week this week across Arizona, with a good chance that record high temperatures could fall. An Excessive Heat Warning is in effect until Thursday for areas of Northern Arizona 5,000-feet and lower. Tuesday looks to be the day that all-time record highs are in jeopardy of falling. The forecast high in Prescott Tuesday is 104 degrees, which is one degree off the all-time high of 105 degrees set in 1923. The forecast high in Flagstaff Tuesday is 94 degrees, which is three degrees off the all-time high of 97 degrees set back in 1973. If you have outdoor plans this week, make sure you have plenty of water and snacks and dress appropriately. If you can, get your hikes or bike rides in early in the morning or in the evening. The National Weather Service says we could see some moisture come into the area by Thursday or Friday, so there is a chance of afternoon thunderstorms in the forecast by the weekend.
