President Biden approved Arizona’s Major Disaster Declaration that the state’s Congressional delegation called for last week for Apache, Navajo and Coconino counties. The declaration releases federal assistance to state, tribal and local recovery efforts for areas affected by severe storms and flooding from July 22nd to July 24th of this year. Federal funding is available to State, tribal, and eligible local governments, and certain private nonprofit organizations, on a cost-sharing basis for emergency work and the repair or replacement of facilities damaged from the weather. Federal funding is also available on a cost-sharing basis for hazard mitigation measures statewide. Money for the counties will come from FEMA.
