Coconino National Forest fire managers will be performing a prescribed burn Friday four miles south of Flagstaff along Lake Mary Road. Fire crews intend on burning 348 acres on Friday and then continuing on the 24-hundred-acre project through April 22nd. Officials say smoke will be visible from Flagstaff and Lake Mary Road due to southwest winds. Residents in the Smokerise, Country Club and Continental neighborhoods in east Flagstaff will see light to moderate smoke from the burn. Trail access will be limited during the burn implementation and there will be a reduced speed limit on Lake Mary Road. Crews are planning and acting on projects now while cooler temperatures are in the forecast before summer. The Coconino National Forest reminds drivers to slow down and use caution when around crews and equipment and to avoid trails in the immediate area.
