Prescribed Burns Set For This Week For The Coconino National Forest

There will be a variety of prescribed burns this week in the Coconino National Forest. Fire managers have scheduled six burns, starting Monday six miles south of Mormon Lake Village that will burn 800 acres. On Tuesday, just over 25-hundred acres is set to burn 16 miles north of Flagstaff. The burn is set to protect Kendrick Park, White Horse Park and Snowbowl Estates. On Tuesday or Wednesday an over 600 acre burn is set for five miles east of C.C. Cragin Reservoir which is expected to last most of the week. On Wednesday, a 919 acre burn is set for 15 miles southeast of Flagstaff, which could produce very thick smoke. Also on Wednesday, the Flagstaff Fire wildland fire crew is expected to burn 421 acres at Fort Tuthill County Park. On Friday, 302 acres is planned to be treated six miles northwest of Flagstaff. All burns could be postponed due to the weather and rescheduled if conditions aren’t favorable.
