Fire managers on the Bradshaw Ranger District started the White Spar prescribed burn Monday and will continue to burn through Friday. Roughly 415 acres will be treated near White Spar Campground and Haisley Homestead. The prescribed burn will reduce fuels and improve wildlife habitat and overall forest health. Areas treated with a prescribed burn can help in reducing fire intensity and increasing the safety margin for firefighters. Smoke impacts can be expected on parts of Highway 89 in the early morning and late evening. Hikers are asked to avoid trails from White Spar and Senator Highway. For alternate trails, contact the Bradshaw Ranger District at (928) 443-8000. For fire information, log onto Prescott National Forest’s Facebook, Twitter, and website.
