Prescribed Burn Planned For Tuesday At The South Rim Of The Grand Canyon

There’s a prescribed burn planned for Tuesday at the South Rim of the Grand Canyon. National Park fire managers plan to burn 391 acres south of Highway 64 and northwest of Long Jim Canyon Road. The burn may continue on Wednesday. Smoke impacts are most anticipated for Tusayan and along Highway 64 and could impact Grand Canyon Village and the inner canyon. Drivers along Desert View Drive are advised to go slow along the highway with their lights on. There are no road closures anticipated. If you are heading to the South Rim the next two days, be aware of the burns in the area.
