A granddaughter has pled guilty and was sentenced last week to 38-years in prison in connection with the death of her grandmother back in 2016. Prescott Police discovered a body of a 77-year-old Prescott woman in 2019. Investigators arrived at a home in the 600-block of Country Club Drive at around 8:48 a.m. Officers located her granddaughter, 24-year-old Briar Aven of Prescott, who said her grandmother, 77-year-old Sandra Aven, was out of town and unavailable. Briar and her mother, 46-year-old Tara Aven then provided inconsistent information to police. Investigators checked Sandra’s home and found the body, which may have been in the home since 2016. Both also admitted to cashing monthly payment checks belonging to Sandra. Briar pled guilty to second-degree murder and other charges. Tara previously pled guilty and is serving a 17-year sentence.
