Prescott Valley Police are alerting the public of a possible roofing scam in the area. A resident called police on Wednesday at around 11:45 a.m., saying they received a call from a person claiming to be from a local roofing company. He talked over the resident and then made his own appointment to come to the home to inspect their roof for damage. The resident tried to call the phone number back, but it was disconnected. The resident then called police to report the suspicious call. Police conducted additional follow-up with the Arizona Registrar of Contractors, and the registrars were unable to verify the existence of the business. The Arizona Registrar of Contractors recommends residents to obtain the contractor’s license number to verify if they are actually registered and in good standing.
