Prescott Valley Police Urge Drivers To Be Aware Of School Buses Picking Up Or Dropping Off Students

The Prescott Valley Police Department has been receiving complaints of drivers passing school buses that are stopped to pick up or drop off students. Police remind commuters it’s your responsibility as a driver, to stop for school buses that are stopped with warning lights displayed. It’s a state law. The penalties for passing a school bus with its warning lights on, while stopped, is a $250 fine. The second offense is a $750 fine and a suspension of your driver’s license. Motorists are urged to drive slow in school zones and be aware of their surroundings. Citizens are urged to report motorist that don’t stop for the buses.
