Prescott Police responded to a home Wednesday on a report of shots fired by an elderly military veteran. Officers arrived at the home on the 37-hundred block of North Taylor Drive at around 11:42 p.m. A roommate had been awakened by gunshots and fled the home with her two dogs and called police. Upon arrival officers heard multiple gunshots coming from the residence. After several announcements were made over a public address system, the resident exited the home, surrendered, and was placed into custody. Officers learned the resident, a 77-year-old military veteran, was having hallucinations and yelling about “the enemy” being in the house. The resident was transported to the Veteran’s Administration Hospital for treatment. Officers contacted surrounding residents and thankfully no one was injured. Charges were submitted to the Yavapai County Attorney’s Office for review.
