The Prescott Valley Police Department released statistics Thursday that shows the need for ongoing traffic enforcement. Officers issued more than four-thousand traffic citations last year. Over 26-hundred citations and over 18-hundred warnings were issued for excessive speed. Seatbelt violations resulted in 453 tickets and 14 warnings. Hands free violations garnered 249 tickets and 52 warnings and red light violations had 192 tickets and 72 warnings. Officials say there were 579 traffic accidents in 2019, which included 438 non-injuries, 137 injuries and four fatalities. The basic cause of accidents is not paying attention when driving and not focusing ahead when you drive.
