Prescott Police have charged a reporting party after they filed a false police report. Officials say back on August 28th, officers investigated a report of an attempted robbery which took place in the area of Granite Creek Park. Officers searched for a suspect based on a description that was provided. A suspect was not found, as well as any witnesses to the alleged robbery. The reporting party made several false and misleading statements to detectives, which were led to use extensive police resources at the time. As a result, the reporting party was charged with two misdemeanor counts of providing false information to a police officer. Officials say the park is safe and there hasn’t been a reported assault in the area in recent weeks.
