Prescott’s first-ever female police chief is stepping down. Police Chief Debora Black announced her retirement from law enforcement Friday after nearly five years in the role of police chief. Black is taking on another challenge. She says “throughout my career, I have witnessed firsthand the critical need for mental health services.” She adds; “I am excited I will soon join the ranks of professional mental health providers and further my passion to help people in the community.” Black was awarded the Medal of Valor, three Medals of Livesaving and two Police Chief’s Unit Wards. Amy Bonney will become the Interim Police Chief for Prescott until a permanent chief is named. Black’s last day as police chief will be February 12th.
