Prescott Mayor Greg Mengarelli To Read Second Amendment Proclamation Tuesday

Prescott Mayor Greg Mengarelli is expected to read a proclamation Tuesday that affirms the city’s support for the Second Amendment. The mayor will read the proclamation at Tuesday’s Prescott City Council meeting. The proclamation comes two weeks after the Prescott City Council agreed to table a resolution that would have declared the City of Prescott a “Second Amendment Sanctuary City.” The proclamation states the council would use its resources to “oppose any legislation that would infringe upon our citizenry’s right as guaranteed by the Second Amendment.” It also mentions Arizona Senate Bill 1625 as an example of that type of legislation. There will be no public comment after the proclamation is read, but council members will be allowed to make a statement if they wish. The council meeting begins at 3 p.m. at Prescott City Hall.
