The Prescott Chamber of Commerce has decided to cancel the city’s annual Christmas Parade this year and have moved the Courthouse Lighting Ceremony to a virtual ceremony. The city has also canceled this Saturday’s Downtown Holiday Light Parade and Bonfire Festival. Prescott Mayor Greg Mengarelli says “while I am deeply disappointed, this is a decision we had to make, in the interest of public health.” He adds: “we at the city are concerned about the availability of police officers and appropriate allocation of these resources at a time when positive cases are increasing.” Acker Night has also been canceled. A decision on the Whiskey Row Boot Drop will be delayed until December 21st. The virtual Courthouse Lighting Ceremony will take place December 5th at 6 p.m. The chamber will announce a link to watch the ceremony in the coming days.
